Columbia, MD — Coda Solutions Corporation, a leader in advanced systems engineering and high-performance computing solutions for government and defense, today announced the creation of its new Energy Systems Division. This division expands Coda’s applied-research portfolio into advanced energy technologies and strengthens the company’s commitment to mission-ready innovation for national security and modernization.
The Energy Systems Division will focus on the research, design, and prototyping of advanced power and storage systems—including synthetic fuels, solid-state batteries, and renewable-energy technologies—leveraging Coda’s expertise in modeling, systems engineering, and applied R&D. The division will be based in Utah, positioning Coda near key research partners and test facilities.
Daniel Mayes has been appointed Energy Systems Chief Engineer to lead the division’s technical strategy and development activities. Mayes brings more than 25 years of experience in mechanical and chemical engineering, spanning aerospace propulsion, cryogenics, oil and gas, renewable energy, and process engineering. His background includes senior engineering roles supporting NASA, Clean Energy Cryogenics, and multiple commercial energy and materials programs.

As Energy Systems Chief Engineer, Mayes will direct R&D and technical partnership initiatives for the division, including prototype development and advanced development in the defense space including solid state batteries and synthetic-fuel innovation.
